SPORT:-Man City Sign New Goalkeeper, Premier League Transfer Reach A Record New Height
Manchester City have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Claudio Bravo
from Barcelona.
The 33-year-old Chile international moves to the Etihad having signed
for £15.4m (€18m) on a four-year-deal with City plus a possible
further £2.5m in performance-related add-ons..
After putting pen to paper Claudio Bravo said: "It was not easy to
leave a club like Barcelona, but the opportunity to work with Pep
Guardiola was too good to refuse."
Bravo, capped 106 times at international level, won eight major
honours with Barca, including back-to-back La Liga titles and the 2015
Champions League.
When reporters asked Guardiola about the fate of Joe Hart, he said
Pep: "I'm here to take decisions. I was honest with Joe, I was honest
with the club"
Meanwhile in a quick fire deal Barcelona has signed Jasper Cillessen
from Ajax on a five-year deal, for an £11.1m fee.
Big spending English clubs have now shattered the Premier League's
transfer spending record after the total splashed out reached £880
million on Thursday.
Shortly after Manchester City's signing of Barcelona goalkeeper
Claudio Bravo was confirmed, the Premier League clubs' gross spending
in the current transfer window had topped the record of £870m set last
year with some days left before the transfer window closed.
