EXTRA:-#ProudlyYoruba: Yoruba Proverbs, Translations and Its Morals
As part of our promise to promote yoruba heritage on our medium and
reignite its consciousness on the minds of our teeming audience, we
bring to you again three(3) yoruba proverbs, its translations and the
moral&lessons it teaches..
(1)_____Àkànlò Èdè_____
Òkú tí ẹ sin, ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀ ti yọ síta.
_____Idioms____
The feet of the corpse you buried is sticking out.
_____Translation_____
"Àṣírí yín ti tú."
"Your secret is out in the open."
(2)____Owe____
Ojú tí kò rí yànná yànná iná, yẹ̀rẹ̀ yẹ̀rẹ̀ oòrùn, kì í rí yìndìn yindin idẹ.
______Translation____
A pair of eyes that won't endure the fiery flames of fire and the
searing glare of the sun, can't enjoy the glittering (beauty) of
brass.
____Moral____
No pain, no gain;
No guts, no glory.
(3)____Òwe___
Àṣegbé kànkan ò sí, àṣepamọ́ ló wà.
___Translation_____
Actions may be covered up but cannot be carried out with impunity.
____Moral____
Nothing can be permanently covered up.
