The
national leader of the All Progressive Congress Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has denied
making an inciting statement against President Muhammadu Buhari govt or
personality.
The
former governor of Lagos state made this known through an official statement by
his media assistant Sunday Dare yesterday.
The
Nation Newspaper Editorial Chairman, Sam Omatseye, in a column titled, “When the bell rings twice” dated
Monday, May 30, 2016 had criticized Buhari govt stating “We also know that integrity is good, but no matter how good, it will
not put food on the table. There lies the moral dilemma of the Buhari era so
far”.
This is a
statement which political analyst had credited to Tinubu but which he has now
denied through his media assistant.
The statement
state thus; Over the weekend more than
80 people have either called or emailed me about a purported comment alleged to
have been made by my Principal Asiwaju Bola Tinubu denouncing President
Buhari's policies and performance so far. More half of those who contacted me
were not fooled. They knew a black leg was again at work.
They were angry that some people will just
manipulate and fabricate stories and go ahead to publish lies and absolute
nonsense. All I could do was to calm them down.
In the social media age any knuckle head can
publish or turn fact on its head but we know this recent one is again coming
from the stable of people who have sworn to destroy the relationship between
President Buhari and Asiwaju Tinubu. Already they have failed.
The facts; Sam Omatseye Chairman editorial board of
The Nation is a journalist of repute and a powerful and independent mind who
needs no prodding before he write, he has been running a weekly Monday column
since the paper's inception and cannot and does not speak for Asiwaju Tinubu.
His Monday 30th May column titled "When the bell Rings Twice" is
entirely an analysis by him. Penned and signed by him. The ongoing charade on
social media to falsely attribute to Tinubu a piece he did not write is
absolute nonsense.
It is not the first time neither do we expect it to
be the last. The hatchet men behind this distortion are only on a moribund
journey. The political advantage they wish to gain is wasted and polluted in
the gutter of their lies.
For the records; for the party he laboured
tirelessly to establish, For the government he sacrificed so much to see come
to power, For the ideas and policies of the party he was central to putting
together, and records don’t lie, Tinubu does not need anyone to speak for him,
He speaks for himself Boldly and clearly over any issue he is passionate or
concerned about.
In his democracy day statement he presented in a
lucid and nationalistic way his reflections on the one year of APC in
government and his thoughts and admonitions going forward.
The Buhari
led government has kept fate with the principles and ideals of the APC and if
there is any point of departure or point of discussion Asiwaju Tinubu as one of
the founders and leaders of the party has access and will always seek audience
with Mr. President, He is not in the habit of hiring proxies to speak for him, Not
prior to this dispensation and certainly not now.
The success of this current government for the sake
millions of Nigerians is Tinubu's pre- occupation’ The statement conclude.
