UEFA Champions League Team of the Week! Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the player of the week!

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 12th UEFA Champions League goal of the season earlier this week and is on track to break his own record.
 The Portuguese was decisive in his side's 2-0 win at Roma on Wednesday, winning the Man of the Match award after scoring Real's opener.

Ronaldo's goalscoring form in Europe's top club competition has been devastating this term.

He has netted 12 goals in seven games in the Champions League this season, which is already more than the 10 he had as the tournament's joint top scorer in the previous campaign.

In addition, he has also scored one more goal than he had during his record season in 2013/14 at this stage of the competition. Back then, he had scored 11 goals after the first leg in the round of 16.

After claiming his 12th goal, he is now only five strikes short of his own record for the most goals in a single Champions League campaign (17).

In fact, only Ronaldo himself (17 in 2013/14), Lionel Messi (14 in 2011/12) and AC Milan legend Jose Altafini (14 in 1962/63) have finished a whole Champions League /European Cup campaign with more goals than the 31-year-old already has at this stage of the competition.
 Overall, Ronaldo has now scored 89 goals in Europe's elite club competition – 74 for Los Blancos and 15 for Manchester United – nine more than Messi has put away.
