Its exactly a year when the wind of change blew with a cool breeze in the annals of history of Iwo land after 3years of a fierce legal tussle and political camaraderie.
The Ancient city witnessed the ascension of a pragmatic, vibrant, valiant, courageous, intelligent, indefatigable, dynamic, industrious, agile and a notable canadian based prince of high repute enthroned as Oluwo of Iwo land on 9th November, 2015.
The mammoth crowd from all walks of life grace the historic event with the prince now turned king making a remarkable triumphant entry into the kingdom on 9th of November 2015 after 3 years that the throne had been vacant since the demise of late Oba Ashiru Tadese (Ariwajoye), he was immediately turbaned according to Islamic rites and tradition of the ancient city.
Before his emergence as Oluwo of Iwo, the community was in total black out for several months, but within twinkling of an eye, power was restored and this proactive step serves as a great testimony to Iwo indigent that era of positive change has come and this started the wildfire of positive occurrences that has continued to rage on.
The journey of a year on the throne is not a joke for a serious minded fellow and an action packed personality like the Oluwo of Iwoland, no wonder why the monarch swung into action since the first day of his enthronement as Oluwo of Iwo land.
It's crystal clear that Iwo is an ancient city but has nothing to write home about in terms of infrastructure. An adage says 'charity begins at home' this wise saying inspired Oluwo of Iwo land to rehabilitate the palace and upgrade it to modern palace, which is now a beauty to behold and a pride to the community.
Furthermore, the age long dream of having an higher citadel of learning in the community was actualised as National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) just came in like a surprise to Iwo land.
His sterling qualities and outstanding performance as a unique, distinct and distinguished paramount ruler takes him to an enviable height not only in the state of Osun but in Nigeria and the world at large.
An affirmation of it was the conferment of Great Ambassador Of Canadian, and also the prestigious Award of Honorary Phd bestowed upon him by a university in Coutonou, Benin Republic.
One of his objectives was the act of outsourcing from successful Iwo indigenes both home and in diaspora and this has resulted in a Soap factory being established in the land(Telu Soap Factory) as he believes industrialisation is the panacea to the economic development of a society.
Oba Adewale also realise an 'healthy being is an healthy society' this culminates in him importing Medical Equipment worth over #1.5bn for the well being of Iwo land people.
In addition, people in penury and destitute have heave a sigh of relief through the initiatives of free feeding and clothing that has cushion the effects of hunger in the land. What a great reformation is this?
Payment of G.C.E forms to the less privileged in the society. Empowerment programmes to the youths and unemployed teeming population in Iwo land.
Toy drive is also in pipe line, this is another solomonic idea to bridge the gap between the Bourgeois and proletariats, it's a symbol of humility to accommodate the kids despite the fact that he's not a father Christmas.
Some centuries back Iwo land is known as an Islamic city but without national recognition especially in terms of representation at the Apex of Supreme Council of Muslims body in Nigeria (NSCIA), Oba (DR) Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi "ILUFEMILOYE" (TELU 1) rewrote the history and became a permanent member of the council.
Aside from this, In the Global map Iwo is now well recognized.
Paramount Rulers in the olden days were known to carry out arbitration roles within their domains, but a change has occurred during era of this present Oluwo as he has redefine what Kingship should be all about in this 21st century and one out of numerous of such is the ongoing rehabilitation of Iwo-Osogbo road which is the exclusive function of the Government, this affirmed his usual statement that good road and an excellent road network is one of the ways to stir up rapid economic development in the society.
In other to ensure peaceful co-existence in the community, he embarked on ward and compound tour to know the needs of his people and as well to preach the gospel of peace and unity to the populace as he beleives is only unison we can achieve more.
The journey of 52 weeks achievement can not be vividly accounted for because of the enormity of great and positive occurrences that has transpired in that short time.
However, despite the unprecedented achievements Oba Akanbi has recorded so far, their have been some darkside and one of such was the "KIDNAPPING SAGA" that generated a lot of controversy in the nooks and corners of the global world, but thankfully God gave the monarch wisdom beyond solomon parameters to weather the storm and here we are giving glory to God.
In summary, this is a 365 days of reckoning and unprecedented achievement.
If we try to chronicle all his laudable achievements we will write an Epistle.
May you mark several more years with numerous achievements and in sound health.
May your reign continue to bring peace, prosperity and meaningful development like this.
Congratulations to a great commander of positive change.
Long Live Oba Adewale Akanbi (Telu1)
Long live Iwoland.
