ONDO ELECTION: Appeal Court To Rule On PDP Crisis Tuesday

An Abuja Division of the Appeal Court will on Tuesday rule on an application challenging the June 29 court judgement that recognised the Modu Sheriff-led faction as the genuine leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, a judgement that made INEC to announce Jimoh Ibrahim as the party flagbearer in the forthcoming Nov 26 election against Eyitayo Jegede who had been the candidate of the party.

Akure, the Ondo State capital, was in turmoil on friday after youths stormed the streets, protesting thursday night's decision of the INEC to drop Mr Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) as the governorship candidate of the PDP in next month's governorship election.

The development which prompted the state governor, Olusegun Mimiko, to rush to President Buhari in Abuja on friday to seek his intervention in the matter.

Meanwhile, substituted governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede, has called on his supporters who thronged the streets on Friday to protest his substitution, to embrace peace and assure them that justice will prevail.
