This was contained in a press release from the monarch titled "STILL ON IWO-OSOGBO ROAD"
The statement reads "It's more than a week we started the rehabilitation/patching of Iwo-Osogbo road and to the glory of God we are making progress.
When we started this project, it looks like an herculean task. We were discouraged. Many said it's not achievable. Some even said we are out to spite the government of the state."
He reiterated his belief that government can't do it all unless its citizens are in support to make things work out well "One thing we have to understand is that government can not solve all our problems. And it's important we as a people have to help the government in our own little way. And as a leader, I see it as a duty to lead by example. I see it as a necessity to take the bull by the horn. I know the importance of this road to the economy of my city and the neighbouring towns and communities. I know what Iwo stands to benefit from the road. And this is why it's imperative to get the road done by all means."
He equally stated that "the role of traditional rulers in this 21st century go beyond being the custodian of our culture and tradition, promoting peace and unity" but also involves "the welfare of the citizens which must be paramount to any responsible traditional rulers."
Oba Adewale also appreciated those who have been part of the project since its inception especially the traditional rulers, corporates bodies and individuals.
"I want to sincerely appreciate the support I am enjoying from other Iwoland traditional monarchs, most especially those that have their towns along the road. You've all made this work more easier than envisage. The Addo of Iddo has done so well by encouraging his people to come out in masses to join others in getting the job done.
I want to appreciate Prophet Funsho Akande Baba Abiye and members of his church, they've been wonderful all along, doing all necessary to get the road done.
A very special thank you to the Mogaji's of Rabsih Imec with a good and quintessential leader in ALhaji Rasheed Fasasi (olo oko Oba)."
He further said the rehabilitation of the road is a divine calling from God and enjoined his subjects to join hands with him for the development of the community "We are moving on, geometrically. You too can join the moving train. Most of my ideas are (divine). It's all inspired by God and that's why we are making progress.
Iwo is destined for greatness. Iwo will soon become a cornerstone and an example among the comity of cities in Nigeria and beyond.
This is the Empire of ideas we are talking about" he concluded.
