KOGI POLL: TRIBUNAL UPHOLDS BELLO ELECTION DISMISS FALEKE, WADA PETITION

Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja yesterday dismissed James Faleke’s petition against the victory of Governor Yahaya Bello.
Faleke had challenged Bello’s victory & sought to be declared winner of the election on the ground that his joint ticket with the late Audu Abubakar won the election.
Delivering judgment, Justice Mohammed held that Faleke’s petition lacked merit.

Yahaya Bello became the Governor of the state after the death of Audu Abubakar on the eve of the election, and was nominated as the All Progressive Congress candidate for the re-run election which the party eventually won.
Meanwhile the Kogi State Governorship election tribunal sitting in Abuja has also dismissed a petition brought before it by the immediate-past governor of the state, Idris Wada, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, challenging the emergence of Yahaya Bello as governor.
Capt, Idris Wada on Tuesday suffered a similar fate of James Faleke as the tribunal said he lacked the locus standi to challenge the process that produced Mr. Bello as the APC candidate.
