And after the controversy the news has generated the minister of
communications Barr shittu has make some clarifications.

"I have not negotiated with anybody. Remember I was not yet a minister
when the matter started. At no time was any file ever brought to me on
the matter even after my resumption." Barr Shittu said

The NCC had earlier stated that the immediate past U.S. Attorney
General, Eric Holder, represented MTN in talks with Nigeria's Attorney
General.

Meanwhile, Nigeria's Attorney-General and Minister of Justice,
Abubakar Malami, yesterday clarified his role in the controversial
payment of N50 billion by MTN Nigeria to the Federal Government
towards the settlement of the N780 billion fine imposed on the
telecoms firm by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC.

Mr. Malami says his office did nothing illegal.
